The group of SCV residents have partnered with Ferrante and Home Care Services to support the 2016 Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraiser set to place in September at Bridgeport Park in Valencia.

“There are a lot of people and a lot of companies that are really getting behind this and supporting this, and I really wanted to mention them,” said Ferrante, who is chairing this year’s event. “I want to show and demonstrate the fact that these are people that are carving time out of their business, out of their family life, etc. to support this.”

The first to be recognized was Janet Pearson, a local insurance agent and chair of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s sponsorship committee.

Second was Angela Muki of Elder Life Connections, which offers assistance to seniors and their families. Muki joins Pearson as a member of the walk’s sponsorship committee.

Next Ferrante mentioned Kathy Seifert of Connection to Cruise, another member of the committee; Larry Parsons, owner of Color Me Mine in Valencia and Porter Ranch; and Ed Bernstein of 25 Score.

“(They) are working tirelessly to try to make this event what it is, and we could have big stuff happening with big companies … but it’s people like that that really drive it,” Ferrante said. “These are people that are supporting the community; we need to support them.”

In partnership with Home Care Services, Santa Clarita’s annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s is put on by Alzheimer’s Greater Los Angeles, which provides education, support, resources and advocacy in the greater L.A. area.

“Just in this last budget (there was) triple the amount of money that went to Alzheimer’s research,” Ferrante said, “and it’s because of organizations like this, and it’s because of events like this, we can do it. It’s because of people like this that we can put on these events. We’re going to find a cure, and these are the people that are doing it.”

Ferrante added, “These people I was just talking about are local– this is a Santa Clarita walk. So give me a call if you want to be a part of this, and join Ed and Larry and Kathy and Angela and Janet. Join us making a difference.”
