The Valencia theme park was part of a national attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most simultaneous kisses under the mistletoe.

The 10-second pucker-ups were hosted by six Six Flags parks across three time zones at 2:15 p.m. precisely, and the event’s coordination has been a weeks-long effort as part of the “Holiday in the Park” seasonal celebration, said Connie Lujan, who worked on the event on behalf of Valencia’s Magic Mountain.six-flags-magic-mountain-mistletoe-record-4

“I believe, based on the early estimates, we’ve probably doubled last year’s number of 400,” she said, referring to the previous attempt at Six Flags Over Georgia near Atlanta.

A Guinness official is at the Georgia location and reviewing footage to verify the numbers, but this year, each park had at least as many as the SCV park’s 100, and Georgia had several hundred, making a new record more than likely.

“It’s a crazy process, but it’s been a lot of fun,” Lujan said, and the dozens of couples bussing in Santa Clarita seemed to agree.

The park reached out to guests on its website and to the newsletter that goes out to season pass-holders.

“It was very cool it was a wonderful experience, and a one of a kind opportunity,” said Aimee Diosi, who was there with season pass holder Josiah Frazier, of Bakersfield.

“Yeah, it was cool to have everybody come together from different walks of life, and just come together for a single purpose,” Frazier said. “And I always wanted to break a record, so this was a great opportunity.”

The “Holidays in the Park” event was about “celebrating the holidays and bringing love to the park,” Lujan said, noting the group went a wee bit longer than they thought just to guarantee they also accomplished the task at hand.

“That’s a lot of kissing going on at the same time,” Lujan said with a laugh. “We said, ‘Let’s go a couple more seconds to make sure we got that record.’”
