By 8:45 a.m., all lanes had reopened, but CHP officials remained on scene near the Lyons Ave. off-ramp.
“We’re still investigating the incident,” said Sgt. Pack of the CHP at the scene. It is unknown how long the investigation will continue.
The incident is not be treating as a criminal investigation based on the preliminary investigation. The driver who reportedly struck the officer with his truck has not been arrested.
CHP officers suspect the motorcycle might have crashed after colliding with debris on the road before the motorcycle officer was struck. All the information is preliminary at this time.
Witnesses reported the officer did not sustain life-threatening injuries, although fire and CHP officials could not confirm the officer’s status. The driver of the truck was not injured.
The officer was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital where he’s currently being treated for his injuries.
Hopefully the injuries are not life threatening and the officer will make a full recovery. Prayers to all involved as this seems like it was a very unfortunate accident (based upon the article).
Prayers to Danny Boka????❤️
Hey Cal Trans get off your butts and clean our freeway! Isn’t that what we pay property taxes?????? ????????????????
Why closed for 3 hrs? It was a motorcycle. A tarp and a car or two. Was the tarp leaking? Ridiculous cop accident investigation. Keep the tarp trash off the fwy and we’ll all be fine. Chp don’t patrol- they lay in sit- on onramps etc Deserved.
Thinking about you buddy, get well soon
Deserved? That is such a hurtful thing to say. A man and his family have experienced something awful. Nobody deserves that.
Human lives are precious. All should be treated equally. So why is the freeway shut down for 3 hours. I was recently in a car accident on the same I5 but further south. It was raining hard and the CHP arrived within 15 minutes. After he assessed the accident, he had the vehicles involved in the accident moved off the road to the next off ramp. Why? To clear the road. Why wasn’t that the case for this accident. Call it special treatment?
It’s not special treatment. When there’s city property involved the chances and liklihood of lawsuits goes way up. It’s not about somebody’s life being more important. Kind of a ridiculous comment.
There can be a lawsuit whether it is a police officer or not. It’s definetly treated differently for the private citizen.
