Webster was contacted by Simon during her second run on the show after she sang a version of Simon’s song, “You’re So Vain” and liked it, Webster said.

“After (Simon) heard me sing her song, she sent me a message on Twitter actually,” Webster said. “She slid into my Dm’s to say, ‘Hey, I really liked your version. I want to be your coach too, if Miley Cyrus wouldn’t mind.’”

Webster was skeptical that Simon — whom Webster was named after — was really contacting her, but later realized that Simon’s Twitter account was officially verified and her phone number came from Massachusetts, the area that Simon lives, according to Webster.

“My first response was, is this real life? (And) her response was, ‘Yes this is real. I would love for you to come to Martha’s Vineyard,’” Webster said. “I get a call on my phone that said from Massachusetts, and I kind of had this gut instinct like, oh my goodness this could be it, and I answered the phone and immediately she said hello and I knew it was her.”

Webster’s first meeting with Simon wouldn’t be taken lightly because she was meeting with her hero for what may have been a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Webster said.

“I really had to take some time before-hand and say, ‘I need to remember every single bit of this because this is once in a lifetime,’ which I found out might not be because she’s so kind and generous,” Webster said. “I was nervous about us just hitting it off right off the bat so I didn’t know (what we were) going to talk about, (what was) going to happen, but conversation just started.”

The two met in Martha’s Vineyard on December 17 to discuss music and Webster’s original songs, where they sang together and got along like close friends, Webster said.

“I got to sing ‘You’re So Vain’ with her and it was incredible. We were meant to be singing together and it’s so crazy cool,” Webster said. “She actually hopped on one of my songs and started singing with me because she was able to catch on so quickly.”

Webster will be finishing up her year with a performance in the Local Pub & Grill in Valencia at 8 p.m. on December 30. The pub is located at 26876 The Old Road.

“I will be playing an acoustic show and the whole theme of the night is sort of like me just sharing my heart, just singing the songs that I love to listen to and the songs that have inspired me, and I’ll have my guitarist with me and he’s going to sing a couple songs and it’s going to be a lot of fun,” Webster said.
