As a parent to two children educated locally from kindergarten through high school, Kelly has been an engaged stakeholder, involved with PTA and leading initiatives to bring arts enrichment programs to schools in the area.

“I am running to bring a much-needed fresh perspective to the Hart board. As a parent of a current student in the district, I’m acutely aware of the new realities facing our students and teachers every day. From safety and security to diversity and inclusion, our students deserve to be represented by a trustee that accepts them as they are, and embraces inclusion and diversity instead of mocking it. As the next Hart trustee, I will proactively seek student, parent, and staff input for solutions that will help them feel supported and safe at school,” Trunkey stated.

Trunkey is a graduate of The College of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising Design and a Media Arts minor. Along with many other personal and professional accomplishments, she served as the first Art Director of The New York Observer.

Kelly has been a resident of Santa Clarita since 1997 and resides in Saugus with her husband Chris, their daughter Marin, a graduate of Saugus HS now attending University of Hawaii, and their son Will, a junior and athlete at Saugus High School.
