In an effort to help rescue pets find their forever homes, KHTS AM-1220 is launching a brand new video series called the “KHTS Adoptable Pet of the Week.” The first pet to take the spotlight is Lucky, a five-year-old doberman/labrador retriever mix from St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary in Canyon Country.

Lucky was rescued from the Lancaster Animal Shelter about two months ago after he was surrendered by his former owners for being “too big.”
Victoria Lazarz, an adoption counselor at St. Bonnie’s, described Lucky as a typical doberman with lots of energy and love to give.
“He just loves to be with you, and loves to cuddle and sit in your lap,” she said. “He does have a lot of energy that he needs to exert, but he has an amazing personality.”

Believed to be good with kids, cats and other dogs, Lucky is also extremely smart and knows training commands like “sit,” “stay,” “down,” “leave it,” “shake” and even “high five.”
The perfect owner for Lucky would be an active individual who loves to hike or run and would enjoy taking him to the dog park or playing fetch with him, according to Lazarz.
“Come meet him– you’ll fall in love,” she said. “He’s the perfect companion, and that’s all he wants: a companion of his own.”
About the Adoption Process at St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary
All of the animals at St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped. Adoption fees for adult dogs (over one year old) is $250, which helps cover the cost of these veterinary expenses, as well as the day-to-day operation of the facility.
The first step in the adoption process at St. Bonnie’s is for all the members of the household — including other dogs — to stop by for a “meet and greet” with the pet and an adoption counselor. Next, a home check is scheduled so sanctuary staff can make sure the household is safe for the pet.
“After the ‘meet and greet’ goes well and the home check goes well,” Lazarz said, “they are free to come by and pick them up.”
