KHTS Presents Diamond Rio Concert For Santa Clarita Residents

Country music fans in the Santa Clarita Valley will be getting a treat this summer, when Grammy-winning band Diamond Rio hits the stage at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center for a concert sponsored by Santa Clarita’s Hometown Station, KHTS FM 98.1 and AM-1220.

Diamond Rio is expected to bring their signature platinum sound to Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center, known as the PAC on Saturday, June 30 along with a special local guest, Savannah Burrows, who won the 2016 KHTS Country Music Showdown.

KHTS is proud to present this country music event featuring Diamond Rio, six-time Country Vocal Group of the Year, to the Santa Clarita community as the first major artist performance at the PAC.

Station Co-Owner Carl Goldman said he was “delighted” to bring the event to the Santa Clarita Valley.

“KHTS is excited to be involved with our first major artist performance,” said Goldman. “We are thrilled to have Diamond Rio share their string of hits and also have Savannah Burrows be a part of this.”

“I am so thrilled to be opening for the Grammy-award winning band, Diamond Rio at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center this summer. I am so honored to be a part of such a wonderful event in our amazing city,” said Burrows.

The six-man country western ensemble Diamond Rio made an impression in country music when their debut single “Meet In The Middle” reached No. 1 in 1991, marking a first for a country western group.

Over nearly 30 years, the Nashville country music stars have maintained their award winning momentum, selling more than 10 million records and earning multiple awards, including five multi-week No. 1 singles, 22 top singles, three platinum albums and five gold certified records.

The band has been known for striking a cord with fans who venture out to hear them play, as the group’s live performances are renowned for sounding just like the studio recording.

Santa Clarita country music fans can pre-purchase tickets for the concert on the PAC website, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the SCV Disaster Coalition.

About Gilbert Bernal

Gilbert A. Bernal Jr. has been part of the KHTS video department since Jan 2017. He was hired as video editor in June 2017 after his four-month internship in the video department. While serving as a video intern, his duties were extended to become a multimedia journalist, producing news videos for KHTS News and Features. Gilbert was added to the KHTS team as part of the station’s continued growth and expansion. An Army veteran, father and local artist Gilbert has dedicated time and energy to volunteering at schools in the Santa Clarita Valley. At Pinetree Community Elementary School, in Canyon Country, Gilbert donated art for school auctions, photographed events and painted murals. At Canyon High, he gave two art demonstrations for the “Yes I Can” organization, a peer counseling class that focuses on learning about disabilities, social inclusion, and tolerance. Starting in Feb 2017 Gilbert launched the “KHTS Man On the Street” video features which gather and reports local opinion of Santa Clarita residents on current issues or events. A return student at College of the Canyons since 2014, Gilbert has been apart of the Media Entertainment Arts department working as a college assistant. After enrolling into the film program in 2014, he was hired to work in the camera equipment room (The Cage). There he helps students with film equipment rentals and technical advice. Gilbert received his associates degree in Film Production from College of the Canyons in 2017. He is continuing his educational path and plans to attend CSUN in Fall 2018 to work for a Bachelor's degree in Film.
