This year, the parade will feature various floats, horses, music, the All SCV High School Marching Band, military representations, classic cars and the KHTS Firetruck among the marchers.

The Grand Marshall is expected to be Fred W. Trueblood III, with the event held in honor of Bobbie Trueblood Davis.

Beginning at 9 a.m. in Old Town Newhall, the parade will move down Main Street, up Lyons Avenue and through Orchard Village Road before finishing at 16th Street. This year’s parade theme is “It’s a Grand Old Flag.”

There is no designated parking area for parade watchers, but The Old Town Newhall Parking Structure, a multi-story building with around 360 parking spots, was opened in May near the corner of Lyons Avenue and Main Street.

Following the parade, the City of Santa Clarita will light up the night sky as part of their annual Fourth of July Fireworks Show at Westfield Valencia Town Center. The first fireworks are set to be lit at 9:15 p.m.

Not only will the night’s sky display luminous lights, the air will be filled with the sounds of KHTS Radio’s live soundtrack to compliment the ambience of the event.

The show is free to the public and residents are encouraged to arrive early due to traffic concerns caused by street closures.

Travel lanes are expected to reopen after the fireworks show, conditions allowing. Drivers headed east are advised to take the exits onto Citrus Streets, while drivers heading west are advised to take the signalized exits onto Valencia Boulevard or Magic Mountain Parkway.

The city has also planned a pancake breakfast and the Independence Day 5K and 10K run, hosted by the Santa Clarita Runners’ Club.

Stevenson Ranch will also be hosting a fireworks show this year at Dr. Richard Rioux Memorial Park, located at 26233 Faulkner Drive.

Organizers suggest attendees bring a picnic dinner, personal activities, camping chairs, a blanket and anything else they may need to fully enjoy the fireworks show.

Park gates open at 6 p.m. and guests will be treated to a live band until 8 p.m., with the fireworks show beginning at 9 p.m. and ending at 9:30 p.m.

The event is free to the public.

Six Flags Magic Mountain is also getting in on the fun with their July 4th Fest, which kicked off on June 30 and is slated to end with a finale on Wednesday, July 4.

One highlight of the park’s celebration will be the All American Food Festival.  With the purchase of a passport, guests will be able to try traditional American foods with a twist.

Attendees can also witness the Nighttime Fireworks & Laser Show every night at 9:15 p.m. at the Full Throttle Plaza and the Main Gate Plaza.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department is reminding residents that it is absolutely illegal in the city of Santa Clarita to light fireworks without prior city approval. To report illegal fireworks, call 661-255-1121.
