The 2018 KHTS Sacramento Trip will be hosted by Assemblyman Dante Acosta. Senator Scott Wilk and staff will also be participating.

“The KHTS Sacramento bus trip is a powerful Santa Clarita tradition and is unique to our community,” Assemblyman Dante Acosta said. “Attendees bring a broad range of expertise and interest… They come together on this trip to learn and be heard.”

The trip making it into its 13th year and Santa Clarita Valley is the only city in the nation to participate in anything like it, KHTS station owner Carl Goldman said.

“It amazes me that no other community does anything like it in the country. Our KHTS Sacramento road trip makes a huge impact with key legislators who are used to groups from one organization communicating with them.” Goldman said. “Our trip is so different because of the incredible diversity we bring to the discussion from participants who are advocating for our valley and not just the issues they represent.”

Community representatives are encouraged to sign up early to meet the 120 member capacity. The trip is traditionally sold out on a first come first serve basis, however this year, a waitlist will be made for interested guests.

The trip will facilitate discussion over important topics that effect the Santa Clarita Valley. KHTS will be arranging meetings with key legislators and policy-makers in Sacramento who will further discuss the issues that impact Santa Clarita Valley.

The KHTS Sacramento Trip will cover the following topics:

  • Education
  • Water
  • Transportation
  • Health Care

KHTS will be identifying more topics as the trip gets closer. New items will be added to the agenda in January.

“We strive to invite a good cross representation of Santa Clarita from both sides of the political aisle and from a large cross section of key businesses, organizations and nonprofits.” Goldman said. “We encourage anyone interested who has not been on the trip to contact us, because our goal is to have as many newcomers as possible.”

Since the inception of the Sacramento Trip, more than 1,000 Santa Clarita community leaders have participated in the road trip.

Last year, the trip included an annual dinner with major keynote speaker, Senator Kevin de León who represents senate district 24 and just announced his candidacy for State Senator Diane Feinstein’s seat. Other notable speakers have included California Governor Jerry Brown and Former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The trip will be sponsored by Castaic Lake water agency, California Credit Union and Southern California Gas Company.
