Julio Cesar Jimenez, 35, was arrested in connection with the theft of more than $100,000 from a Newhall bank ATM on Nov. 28, 2017.

He was booked on suspicion of theft, embezzlement and a Dec. 1 arson. Jimenez posted bond the same day he was arrested and is awaiting a future court appearance.

“Suspect Jimenez is no longer employed by the Department,” said Capt. Darren Harris.

Jimenez began working for the Sheriff’s department Dec. 18, and was in the first phase of the 22-week academy training period when the discovery of his potential involvement in the crimes surfaced, according to Harris.

During a search of his home, investigators recovered much of the stolen $120,000.

The sheriff’s department conducts extensive background investigations on all applicants, according to sheriff’s officials.

“Based on the timeline, it appears the crimes allegedly committed by Jimenez occurred between the time his background investigation concluded and his date of employment with the department” officials said.

  1. Nice work on the background investigation. If he was this arrogant and crooked without the badge, just think how he “may” have abused his powers with he badge. Again, nice work and recovery of the stolen $$$ too. Kudos to Captain Harris and his staff.

  2. My thoughts exactly Guy. (Hey, we share the same name) 😉 How can anyone want to be a police officer and also think they can commit crimes. Hypocrite. He’s also pretty stupid (or maybe just arrogant) that he kept the money at his house. I’m sure this is embarrassing for the department. I’m glad they got him sooner than later. He just ruined his life for what he could have made annually in a legit career.
