Labor Day Weekend: Activities And Events For Santa Clarita

Labor day is coming, and for most people, this signals the end of summer. But before the weather starts to cool, there are a number of events and activities available this Labor Day weekend.

Visit over 40 vendors of California’s finest produce this weekend at the farmers market, located in the College of the Canyons parking lot. Other offerings include fresh honey, flowers and potted plants. The event runs in the morning from from 8:30 – 12.

The Museum Of The Bible is offering a new exhibit, titled “Passages” where patrons can explore the history of the bible, from discoveries to translations to controversies it has caused. Adult tickets are $12, but Santa Clarita residents can sign up on their website here to receive a discount on tickets.

There is also a cheap and easy way to finish that summer tan. The last of the city’s Summer Beach Bus trips is taking Santa Clarita residents to the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday and Sunday. A ride is only $3 and tap card holders can use their cards to pay the fare like normal. Busses depart from the Canyon Country Park and McBean Regional Transit Center at 8:40 in the morning.  

For those interested in a more spendthrift holiday, many may choose to simply spend their Labor Day weekend with friends and family. There’s no better place to do that than right around the corner in one of Santa Clarita’s beautiful parks. Many of them also feature picnic tables and barbecue pits to make an end of summer picnic easy to accomplish. Some of the more popular parks are Central Park, located on Bouquet Canyon Road and Santa Clarita Park, located on Seco Canyon Road.

There are also options for those looking to have fun out of town.

The Outlets at Tejon in Bakersfield are offering something extra every saturday, starting this weekend. As well as the usual shops and retailers, there will be a free series of outdoor concerts called Rockin’ at the Ranch. This weekend, local band Mento Buru will play. As well as live music, guests can get 10 percent off from Dewar’s and Juicy Burger.

The Los Angeles County Fair opens this Labor Day weekend, with food vendors, live music and a host of activities for all ages, including an art gallery, a sci-fi museum, and amusement park rides. Tickets for the weekend are $20 a person, and season passes for the whole month are $30.

Santa Paula is hosting its 11th Annual Labor Day Parade on Monday, and the streets will be filled with walking groups, musical performers, and floats representing a Labor Day theme. The parade will start at 10 in the morning and run through noon.

And for those feeling adventurous this weekend, there’s the Blues, Brews & BBQ Pine Mountain Festival at the Pine Mountain Club on Saturday, just before the grapevine. A $35 ticket includes the price of live entertainment, a barbecue meal and beer. To purchase a ticket or learn more, visit here.

The CHP would like to remind residents, however, to be responsible over the weekend, and not drink and drive. Drunk or impaired drivers are the one of the leading causes of traffic fatalities in the nation, and to prevent accidents, all available officers will be patrolling over the entire weekend. If you see a drunk driver over the weekend, call 9-1-1 and be prepared to give a description of the vehicle and your location.
