“On Friday, around 6 a.m., we received a call of a suspected drunk driver near Shangri La Lane in Canyon Country,” said Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “The driver was reportedly driving on the wrong side of the road.”

When deputies made contact with Obed Magana Uribe, 32, they discovered heroin, leading to the charge of possession with intent to sell. They also discovered a concealed firearm, according to officials. It is unknown if Uribe had a permit for the weapon.

“If you’re going to visit Santa Clarita, and then drive on the wrong side of the road and have possession of heroin for sales along with a concealed firearm, we’ve got the perfect place for you—it’s called the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail,” said Miller.

The suspect was arrested and charged with one felony count of possession of heroin with the intent to sell, according to arrest logs. Officials did not disclose if he was charged with any other felonies.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
