Susie LaPorte, one of the Santa Clarita residents that was struck by gunfire during the Las Vegas shooting, will not need surgery as of Wednesday afternoon.

“She will need a sling for her broken shoulder and will be able to go back to California to see her orthopedic doctor,” said a family member in a social media post. “The bullets are going to stay in her.”

And, according to the post, LaPorte’s doctors planned on removing the breathing tube Wednesday.

“She still has the breathing tube in and is still having the fluid taken out of her lungs,” said the social media post. “They are thinking (on Wednesday) they will be able to take out the breathing tube.”

LaPorte was wounded by multiple gunshot wounds to the neck and upper torso, and is currently at a Las Vegas hospital, according to family members.

There is currently no new information on when LaPorte may return to Santa Clarita.
