The white, powdery substance packed into more than 2,600 “bindles” discovered during a traffic stop in Gorman last week was not cocaine, sheriff’s officials said.

The packets were found on June 21, when deputies patrolling the Gorman area conducted a traffic stop. They discovered approximately 2,600 bindles – small paper containers – of a white substance in the suspect’s vehicle, according to officials.
Originally, the situation was being treated as a drug bust, with detectives investigating where the drugs were from and where they were headed.

“We hopefully saved someone from overdosing or death by keeping these drugs off the street,” said Cpt. Robert Lewis, who leads the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, during a press conference announcing the bust.
But after further testing, investigators found the substance was not cocaine, or any other kind of drug.
“I’m not sure why the deputy believed it was cocaine originally other than the consistency was probably more similar to that drug,” said Sgt. Joel Nebel on Thursday.
Nebel did not say what the substance was, but confirmed the man driving the vehicle where the packets were found was released from custody and is not being charged with any crime.

You would have lynched him.
How do you feel now?
Ops! Not the first time this happened to me. Lucky we have a great Sheriff Department. who will track the sale of this stuff? I’m sure it’s not over.
Seems like the guy commenting on the original story about this “bust” being a decoy, was on to something. Hmmm
If they really thought these were dangerous drugs would they be handling them with their bare hands? What did the driver say it was?
The driver is released after being thrown on the hot pavement, kicked and beaten, and is let go with a “no hard feelings.” I would be calling my lawyer while walking out the station.
