A pair of road closures will be in effect beginning on the afternoon of Nov. 18, one at Lyons Avenue, between Walnut Street and Railroad Avenue and another at Main Street in Old Town Newhall between Lyons Avenue and Market Street. These closures will last from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Detour signs will direct drivers around closures, as well as toward parking areas for Light Up Main Street.
Parking will be available at the Newhall Metrolink Station, Newhall Community Center, Old Town Newhall Library, William S. Hart Museum and the parking lot on the corner of Main Street and 6th Street in Newhall.
Residents are being asked to carpool or walk to the event as parking spaces are expected to run out quickly.
A courtesy shuttle will be available from the Newhall Community Center to Main Street and will run continuously from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Prior to Light Up Main Street, the merchants of Old Town Newhall will hold their yearly Sip N’ Shop event from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Participating businesses will offer discounts and attendees will be able to enjoy appetizers, wine and non-alcoholic beverages.
From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the community is also invited to attend a free event at the Newhall Metrolink Station as Metrolink introduces its new Tier 4 Clean-Power Locomotive.
Child-friendly activities will be provided along with a photo booth and raffle for Metrolink tickets, according to event organizers.
