The Los Angeles Philharmonic is setting the stage at the Hollywood Bowl for their production of Annie with open auditions for the role of Annie and 6 orphans.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic announced the auditions on April 13 through a YouTube video on the official Hollywood Bowl account.

Michael Arden, director for the production, reached out to actors in Los Angeles County in the video, asking for those interested to send in their audition tapes.

“We are so excited because we want to go to the internet to find our Annie and six orphans,” said Arden. “We encourage everyone to audition. It doesn’t matter what color your hair is, what color your skin is, what color your eyes are or even your nail polish. Doesn’t matter your ability (or) where you come from. We want to hear you sing.”

All submissions must be received by the end of April 22 to be considered for any role available.

In the YouTube post Arden told viewers anyone auditioning should include a sample of them singing ‘Tomorrow’ to be considered for the role of Annie, or sing ‘It’s a hard knock life’ if they are interested in playing one of six orphans.

The director instructed viewers that are considering auditioning to take 3 simple steps to submit:

  1. Record a video
  2. Tell us about yourself
  3. Upload video to YouTube and send the link to anniebowlcasting@gmail.com

Performers submitting videos were also instructed to give a brief introduction of themselves, and to include favorite subject in school, color, and activities.

Production crew members added in the YouTube post links to the music and lyrics to both songs for those who are interested in auditioning.

The show is expected to run three consecutive days, with the curtain going up July 27-29 at the Hollywood Bowl in Hollywood.
