Nicholas Colletta, 20, allegedly shot and killed Ivan Solis, 25, at Begonias Lane Park in Canyon Country in 2017, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Solis was at the park shortly before 5 a.m. on July 11 when witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots.

When deputies arrived, they discovered Solis dead from multiple gunshot wounds near the park restrooms.

Colletta was later arrested and charged with premeditated murder. He is a previously convicted felon, with three priors in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Jaqueline Arreola, 24, who was at the crime scene when law enforcement arrived, was arrested as an accessory for Solis’ murder for allegedly having knowledge of the crime and deliberately concealing it.

Arreola pled guilty to the accessory charge, but has not yet been sentenced.

Colletta was held in Men’s Central Jail with a $3.1 million bail, while Arreola was in custody at Century Regional Facility in lieu of $2 million bail.

Colletta pled not guilty in April 2018 to the charge of premeditated murder.

Jury selection for Colleta is scheduled for Sept. 18 at the San Fernando Courthouse.

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
