Etienne Juarez Rosas, 27, is facing a 32-year sentence when he’s back in court next month.

He pleaded guilty to four counts, forcible rape, two counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object and kidnapping.

As a result of the nature of his crime, Rosas will be forced to serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole, in addition to being forced to register as a sex offender for life.

Etienne Juarez Rosas, 27, of Winnetka, missed the hearing scheduled for Monday morning after he was a miss-out.

On Monday afternoon, however, a medical expert brought in by the defense was expected to testify as to whether Rosas could assist in his own defense.

The sexual assault took place November 2015 in a Valencia parking lot.

Rosas was cleared to assist in his own defense last year, but then obtained a new public defender, who filed a new request to challenge Rosas’ competency.

Rosas could have faced up to 75 years in prison if convicted of the charges levied at him.

  1. From.75 years down to just 32….And 85% of that typical plea? So maybe just 28 years? What good does it do to register as a sex offender anymore? About the same as wearing an ankle GPS & then going out & murdering under “court supervision!”
Stop the plea deals! The victims don’t receive any deals!
The FULL 75 years is lenient enough for his heinous crimes!

    • A plea deals often means closure and an end to the nightmare for many victims who would rather not face their attacker in court and have to describe, in graffic detail, their assault to a room full of strangers. Cross examination for many victims, can feel like being revictimized again. None of these cases are settled without first discussing the possible offer with the victim and the investigating officer. Taking the victims wishes into account is not only an ethical duty but statutorily required.

  2. “Etienne Juarez Rosas, 27, of Winnetka” … or do you mean “of Mexico”?

    • Yes, because he couldn’t possibly be from Honduras, Belize, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rico, Puerto Rico, the Philippines, or the entire South American Continent right?? Better yet, an American of Hispanic or Latin descent! Your ignorance knows no bounds and your racism is showing. Some how you and only you can determine a person’s ethnicity by a last name! Tell us, fool how do you do it.

  3. Whatever the time is, this guy has thrown his life away. I hope his example can keep others from doing so. If there’s rape in prison, he’ll likely be the victim.

  4. And the guy who beat and killed his wife got a plea deal for a mere 18 years? That POS left 2 little ones motherless. Justify that?

  5. It is a sad reality that the “justice” system is geared to protect the criminals. We have seen it first hand. This is why it is getting worse, there is no punishment to fit the crime. Even drunk drivers can kill someone and still get maximum 20 years…for a life?? There is something wrong with that!

  6. I am sick and tired of these criminals getting reduced sentences. With this man pleading guilty, are we giving him a shorter sentence because he saved the time and expense of going to trial? It certainly wasn’t his horrendous crime that got the sentenced reduced. I hope his cell-mates know what he did!
