Margo Hudson, manager for Closet on Main, has joined the Single Mothers Outreach (SMO) board of directors in October 2014, according to officials.

“Margo is an icon in Santa Clarita. Most know her as the fashionably dressed woman who owned Margo’s clothing boutique for 36 years”, said officials in a news release. “She orchestrated several fashion shows to benefit local nonprofit organizations such as the annual Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital and Soroptimist International fashion shows.”
Margo helped launch the opening of Closet on Main, SMO’s upscale resale boutique, in February 2013 and currently manages the all-volunteer staff, according to a news release. An advocate for SMO, Margo shares the mission with friends, family and visitors to the store.
She oversees the distribution of clothing to SMO families who “Shop the Closet” each month at a private event, according to the news release. On average, over 45 families attend and over $2,500 in clothing merchandise is given away each month.
She often donated gift certificates to Margo’s to help these causes. She created the Miss SCV Pageant many years ago, was instrumental in organizing the Valencia chapter of the Adoption Society, was involved in the Rocking Horse Derby, helped with the first, and many more, Boys and Girls Club Auctions, and has been recognized by many local groups for her contributions over the years, according to a news release.

Born in Northridge, CA. Brett moved to the Santa Clarita Valley in 1994, shortly after the earthquake. Brett graduated from Saugus High School, class of 2002, and later attended College of the Canyons, before graduating from the University of Idaho, with a degree in American Studies, according to the news release. Shortly after returning to California, he began working for Congressman Buck McKeon, and he currently serves as his Senior Field Representative.
Brett was married to Sarah Ann Kittinger Walter in October 2013 and their first child, Elizabeth Ann Walter, was born in September 2014, according to the news release.
“Both Margo and Brett served previously on the SMO Advisory Council and we look forward to their helping further the SMO mission with their substantial talents and skills,” according to the news release.
Congratulations Margo. They couldn’t have chosen a better person.
