In the last year, KHTS has moved locations and revamped our news department.

We were located in the Canyon Country location for 13 years, but moved to a larger location in Newhall in June of 2015.

We are now located at 24320 Main St. Newhall, CA 91321.

One of the most important aspects of news is accessibility, and we want our community to feel comfortable contacting us when they see breaking news happen, or if there is an issue that needs investigating.

Heather grew up in the Santa Clarita Valley and graduated from West Ranch High School in 2012. She recently graduated from College of the Canyons with an Associate’s Degree in New Media Journalism. She was involved in College of the Canyons’ “Cougar News” for two years, where she became the senior producer. She is currently studying for her Bachelor’s Degree at Cal State Northridge.

“Ever since I was a kid I was always fascinated by the news,” said Harbin. “I was born and raised in the Santa Clarita Valley and I feel very privileged to be able to inform people about what’s going on in our community. My goal is to help the community in anyway I can. I’m training to be certified in Community Emergency Response Training, so hopefully, one day, I can help in the case of an emergency.”

Heather became a staff writer at KHTS AM-1220 following her internship in the newsroom. She has been writing news and feature articles for the KHTS website since May 2015, and was promoted to News Director in October 2015.

“I’ve always loved to write, and when I discovered writing news, it instantly fascinated me. I really enjoy being able to tell a story and give people a look into something they may not otherwise see,” McCrory said. “Every article has at least one thing that makes it worth the read, either a great quote, a new piece of information or even the actual narrative of what happened. The best part about this job is that I get to find those pieces and use them to tell readers what is actually going on where they live.”
