The incident was reported around 2:50 p.m. after the trailer was seen on its side between the Sierra Highway and Newhall Avenue off ramps.
Initial reports indicated the overturned vehicle was a motorhome, but when California Highway Patrol officers arrived on scene, they discovered the vehicle was being towed by a truck.
“Looks like we have a solo-vehicle (traffic collision),” CHP Officer Eric Priessman said. “It’s … a pickup truck hauling a mobile home.”
Priessman was unable to confirm if anyone was injured in the crash.
Reports from the scene indicated motorists were backing up the Sierra Highway on-ramp in order to evade the traffic snarl caused by the crash.
“Of course, the CHP asks people not to do that,” Priessman said. “It’s just inviting more trouble and potentially more crashes.”
A SigAlert was issued for two hours for the three rightmost lanes, leaving only the HOV and the leftmost lane of the freeway open while debris is cleaned and the trailer is righted.

That acura TL tho.
Wait, a mobile home or a trailer? Mobile homes are usually moved by big rigs and this is a truck?
Wait, was it a mobile home or a truck pulling a trailer? There is a difference there. Mobile jones are normally pulled by big rigs..
Thanks, idiot, for towing an entire mobile home with your weenie pick up truck. Your sheer lack of common sense and disregard for the safety of others created a major mess on the freeways today, backing up traffic for miles and forcing drivers to sit in bumper to bumper traffic for hours.
