The event titled, ‘That’s Amore” featured dinner, cocktails, an auction, raffle items and was hosted by KTLA News Anchor Chris Schauble. All of the proceeds will go directly to Saint Monica’s Children’s Home.

Donations to Mother’s Fighting For Others make up a majority of the approximately $60,000 needed in order to fund the yearly operational costs of Saint Monica’s Children’s Home, according to Mothers Fighting For Others.

“It went fantastic. We made twice as much money as last year. We have another large donation that is coming in and it will take us to about $24,000 dollars,” said Mother’s Fighting For Others founder Rocky Turner.

A calendar that was on display at the event allowed each participant to choose which day of the month they would like to donate towards. The daily needs of the children at Saint Monica’s Children’s Home include housing, food, water and medical care.

“That amount covers all children for one day. These are basic human rights that all people should have but don’t have the opportunity to get it,” Turner said.

The single largest donation made was just over $4,000 and although MFFO’s ambitious goal of raising $50,000 was not met, the amount raised will fund Santa Monica’s Children’s home through the rest of the year.

“I believe everyone there made a contribution. No matter how large or how small, the donations will help our girls,” Turner said.

Although this particular fundraiser was focused on the operational costs of Saint Monica’s Children’s Home, on the east coast, an event that is typically held in the month of November called “Gifts of Education” will fund the educational costs for Saint Monica’s Children’s Home.

Since the event, MFFO has received two inquiries into becoming educational sponsors for new children admitted to Saint Monica’s.

Turner first visited the orphanage in 2007 as a volunteer and by 2010 became their full financial supporter.
