Dale Zack, 28, of Lancaster, was approaching the intersection of Placerita Canyon Road and north Sierra Highway on his motorcycle, a Suzuki GSX, at approximately 4:50 a.m. Thursday, said Lt. David Smith with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

A car exiting the 14 Freeway at Placerita Canyon Road entered the intersection and “the motorcycle broadsided the vehicle,” said Sgt. Richard Cohen with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

A portion of Sierra Highway was closed following the crash, however as of 9:30 a.m. Thursday, the road has been reopened, Cohen said.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

  1. You will be forever in our hearts

  2. The person driving the vehicle failed to stop at the exit and killed Dale Zack. There were several witnesses present that made statements to the police. The case against the driver is finally under way. The family would appreciate it if you would release a story that illustrates that Dale was the victim of wreckless driving, and not the offender.
