The multipurpose facility is designed to give the community a wide range of education and social services, according to the SCV Service Center.

County officials joined local and state representatives who were on hand for the opening.

“I was very pleased to join with dedicated community members, county staff and professionals from various service agencies to celebrate the grand opening of the new Santa Clarita Valley Service Center,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger, who represents the 5th District for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, which includes Santa Clarita.

“This larger facility, home to numerous county departments, including the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, features a public access computer lab, a children’s library, classrooms, and administrative offices and will serve as a common place where vital resources will be readily available for our residents.”

Because of it’s ample amount of space, the Santa Clarita Valley Service Center will be able to host an office for the Los Angeles County Military and Veterans Affairs.

“Our veterans sacrifice so much to protect our freedom and it’s great that we’re able to give them a place when they return home,” said Senator Scott Wilk, who was in attendance Thursday. “California has the most veterans (in the nation).”

The new location on Bouquet Canyon Road has twice the space than the previous location — on Main Street in Newhall — and includes more facilities for the community.

Some of those amenities include a public access computer lab, children’s library, conference room and spacious areas for classes.

During the grand opening celebration, the center also arranged a resource fair that offered information on health services, aging services, emergency preparedness, veteran services, social services and library services, according to center officials.
