In less than four hours, two CHP Newhall officers wrote 22 citations, including one that was written for an individual going over 100 mph on the I-5 freeway Monday morning.

“We had two officers working speed enforcement on the I-5 from Templin Highway to Lake Hughes,” according to officials with the CHP Newhall Office. “In three and a half hours, 24 vehicles were stopped, and 22 citations issued and two warnings were given.”

One of the 22 speeding citations given out was to a driver traveling at 108 mph on the 5 Freeway.

Last week, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies also continued their own speed enforcement operations throughout the city streets over the past week.

Deputies issued over two dozen citations for driving at an unsafe speed on Golden Valley Road, including a motorcyclist going over 110 mph on Newhall Ranch Road, according to officials.

“There is a stretch of road that motorists tend to increase speed, where there are not as many buildings, and more open space,” said Sheriff’s officials.

Sheriff’s deputies say that because of the construction work going on near the site of the new sheriff’s station, drivers must be alert to heavy construction equipment and trucks going in and out.

  1. 22 citations ! That’s an awesome profit great job officers. Isn’t that a steep down hill stretch of freeway are you sure it’s not a speed trap ?

    • “will”, you seem to be implying that there is something illegal or unethical about a speed trap. Which makes you either a) ignorant, b) a moron, or c) all of the above. I’m leaning towards c.

  2. Good job officers. If you don’t want a ticket don’t speed . Speed trap how about taking personal responsibility. That’s the problem with society they always blame other people

Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work.
