Newhall Outage Closes Hart High, 2,310 Left Without Power

A power outage in Newhall affected 2,310 people and forced Hart High School to close for the day, according to Southern California Edison’s website and school officials.

The outage began at 10:40 a.m. Thursday, and most residents are expected to have their power restored by 4 p.m., according to Southern California Edison’s website.

Hart High School’s students were let out at 12:30 p.m.

The outage is listed as “analyzing problem,” and as of 11:56 a.m., the crews were on their way.

There is also a planned power outage in effect in Castaic, it began at 10 a.m. and is expected to be restored at 3 p.m.

For the Castaic outage, 74 people were listed as affected, according to the SoCal Edison website.

The cause of the outage was listed as upgrading equipment to enhance reliability, on the utility’s website.
