Prior to the stabbing, two women had pulled over off Grace Lane and were arguing on the side of the road, officials said. The two people did not know each other before the fight.

As the two women yelled at each other, a man acquainted with one of them stepped in.

“A boyfriend or friend tried to intervene,” said Lt. Chuck Becerra with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

As the man stepped in, the woman pulled out a knife and cut his hand.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrived on scene around 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Because she had injured the man, the woman wielding the knife was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Becerra said.
