“For an unknown reason, the party failed to negotiate a right curve in the roadway and allowed his Volvo to drift to the left, into, and across, the northbound lane of Chiquito Canyon Road,” California Highway Patrol Officer Eric Priessman told KHTS AM-1220.

Los Angeles County Fire Department officials were dispatched to the scene, where the victim was reportedly trapped inside the vehicle after it collided with a tree, according to Inspector Randall Wright.

He was transported via ground ambulance to a local trauma center, where he succumbed to his injuries, Wright said.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.
