Alex Urbina recently visited the Business Chamber Spotlight on KHTS AM 1220 to talk about his career as a Santa Clarita Valley life coach.

“I help people make more effective choices in their life,” said Urbina. “I help people get centered and grounded.”

“Unconsciously as human beings we don’t realize that we could be addicted to some things interpersonally,” said Urbina. “And I know that one of the interpersonal addictions that stops us from getting us from where we are to where we want to be is our ego.”

Sometimes people Insist that, “we’re always right”, or go into situations with the mindset that “I’ll do it by myself.”

“People that are a little more enlightened, realize that we don’t have to figure everything out on our own,” explained Urbina.

Those people can look into their “inner circle” and ask for help, and then see that help, advice and opinions as gifts, said Urbina.

Sometimes it’s important to see things from an outside perspective.

People who insist on doing everything on their own, are going to see the same results over and over.

“People end up on this psychological hamster wheel, going around in circles, resisting help, and not seeing any new results,” said Urbina. “Make a new choice, see a new result.”

Urbina said it’s often times hard for people to see that they need help, in general, but also help becoming more open, because they “don’t know what they don’t know,” said Urbina.

“When you don’t know what you don’t know, you’re really in limited,” according to Urbina.

It’s important to question yourself, and open yourself up to different perspectives and recommendations from others, whether it be a life coach, or just friends and family.

“The ego doesn’t want you to access those things that you don’t know, it’s a safety mechanism,” explains Urbina.

Your ego knows that if you try something new, or outside of your comfort zone, you might get hurt.

So it’s important to be a little more humble, and consider opening yourself up a bit.
