“At 3:56 a.m. we received a call for a person who was trapped in a confined space on Browns Canyon Road and Oat Mountain Way,” said Vanessa Lozano, spokesperson with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The Nike system was developed during the post World War II-era to combat enemy aircraft attempting to attack major cities within the United States, according to the Nike Historical Society.

It took units from the Los Angeles County and City Fire Departments over an hour to rescue the patient from a missile silo on the missile site, she said.

“The patient was removed at around 5:50 a.m.,” Lozano said.

The patient was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

Law enforcement personnel from the Los Angeles Police Department and the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are not investigating any crime in connection with this rescue.

  1. Although ICBM’s use missile silos, Nike’s were not ICBM’s they were to be used to intercept incoming attacks by bombers.

  2. Apparently he just did it.

  3. Interesting, I have a repeater on Oat Mountain above the Nike Base and the legal address is in Saugus not Stevenson Ranch.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
