Los Angeles County Fire Department officials released the new statistics about the fire around noon Tuesday, after crews worked throughout the night to establish a perimeter of fire hoses around the burn area.
The Pico Fire was reported shortly after 1 p.m. Monday near the 26000 block of Pico Canyon Road, in an area populated by oil fields.
Air crews were sent along with ground crews to battle the flames, and a third-alarm brush response was soon declared.

The third-alarm response was due to the weather conditions, which put additional stress on the firefighters and required relief teams to replace crews in the field.
The temperature in the area was reported at 106 degrees with 15 mph winds, which caused three firefighters to suffer minor heat-related injuries, according to fire officials.
The brush fire did not threaten any structures. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
