Her next preliminary hearing is set for June 25.

Once the defendant has entered a plea of not guilty, a preliminary hearing will often be held to show that enough evidence exists to charge the defendant. If the judge concludes there is probable cause to believe the crime was committed by the defendant, a trial will soon be scheduled, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Cina, 21, currently faces one felony count each of murder, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury and driving with a .08 percent blood alcohol content causing injury, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Multiple preliminary hearings for Cina have been continued in the months since the crash.

At the time of the crash, Evans was returning home after visiting her twin daughters, who were born prematurely at the UCLA Intensive Care Unit.

Evans was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

Toxicology reports indicate Cina had a blood alcohol content of .21 at the time of the crash, almost three times the legal limit of .08.

Evans left behind her husband and six children: four boys, ages 12, 11, 9 and 2, as well as the twin girls. Her husband, Jacob Evans, partnered with KHTS in December to create two drunk driving PSA videos.

  1. Why would it be continued again?

  2. I hope she’s waiting in the jail for her trial to begin.

  3. If convicted throw the book at her……… #Jail

  4. She made an adult choice to drink and drive. Now there are children with no mother. And a mother who unfairly lost her right to life to be with her family. And a father left to pick up the broken family. This girl needs to pay huge consequences to make sure she understands the deep pain and suffering she caused.
I hope she doesn’t just get a slap on her wrist.

  5. she is continuing the preliminary because her fu**ed up defense wants to get as many of the charges dropped as they can at that stage so when she takes a plea it will be a lot less time.
