Hosted in partnership with A New Smile Dental Group, the SCV Latino Chamber of Commerce and KHTS AM-1220, center officials are asking the public for assistance in collecting a total of 30 pints of blood with a special “plea” for O and A blood types
“I’m challenging four people to a blood race at 10 a.m. to see who can drain the fastest,” said Carl Goldman, co-owner of KHTS AM 1220. “I’ve only been defeated once in the last twenty years that we’ve been doing this. A Bowman High School student defeated me. I’ve left mayors, sheriff chiefs and other dignitaries in the dust.”
There will be food, games and prizes for donors, and all donors are set to receive a coupon for a pint of Baskin Robbins ice cream.

Donors are required to be in good health, have a valid photo ID, weight at least 110 pounds, have no tattoos within the last 12 months and be at least 17-years-old (16-years-old with parental consent).
Center officials also ask that all donors drink plenty of fluids and eat a nutritious meal prior to donating blood.
While appointments are preferred, walk-ins are also welcome. Santa Clarita residents can schedule an appointment by emailing Sandy Hibarger at sandy.hibarger@providence.org or calling Robert Camacho at 818-371-4108.
The “bloodmobile” will be set up from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 7 at A New Smile Dental Group, located at 27209 Camp Plenty in Canyon Country. For more information, call 818-847-4433.
