Erik G. Wexler, CEO of the Providence Health & Services Los Angeles Region, will lead the combined networks to better address health and social needs across the Southland.

“This new region will bring together the talents of many caregivers, greatly expand access to services and allow us to work together to more effectively meet the needs of our most vulnerable populations,” said Wexler.

Providence’s Southern California region includes 14 hospitals, 26 urgent care centers and 60 physician clinics. They have a large range of senior services, behavioral health initiatives and community programs providing direct services to local communities, officials said.

In 2016, the region provided $692 million in community benefits and charity care for proposals that impacted homelessness, healthy eating, access to care and other social determinants of health, according to officials.

In total, the organization has 50 hospitals, 829 physician clinics and more than 111,000 employees serving communities across seven states.
