A Santa Clarita business renowned internationally in the music community, REMO, Inc., and a tambourine manufactured especially for Prince, will be featured at the new National Museum of African American History and Culture, Remo announced Friday.

“We are very honored that a REMO, Inc. work will be exhibited in this museum,” said Alyssa Janney, REMO Inc.’s health program development and marketing manager. “You can walk through virtually any museum in the world… and where there are drums, you’ll find a REMO drumhead.”
Headquartered in Santa Clarita and founded by Remo D. Belli, Remo Inc. has become one of the most innovative musical equipment manufacturers in the country since it began in 1957.
The company has gone on to create many famous pieces of equipment and drumheads, such as the Beatles’ bass drum used in their American debut on “The Ed Sullivan Show.”

The tambourine manufactured by Remo, Inc. was featured in Prince’s Nude Tour in 1990, and will remain a feature in one of the exhibits in the museum.
“The inclusion of our instrument is an honor and puts an exclamation point on the fact that since the invention of the first successful synthetic drumhead by Remo Belli in 1957,” Janney said, “Remo has been an icon of American culture.”
