The Santa Clarita Saddle Ranch Chop House is expected to host a mechanical bull, with a floor plan that calls for a massive, automated bovine “smack-dab” in the middle of the restaurant, city spokeswoman Carrie Lujan confirmed.

KHTS received multiple social media posts and emails concerning potential municipal roadblocks allegedly poised to the potential Saddle Ranch location.

The delays appear to be with changes and redesigns, according to officials, who also said the restaurant-bar has not yet set a date for its expected opening. Lujan also confirmed that the city of Santa Clarita’s Building Office recently approved the transfer of the permit from the old contractor to the new contractor June 27, meaning there’s likely still some work to do before people should get chapped about a mechanical bull ride.

Restaurant officials have announced several previous dates that haven’t resulted in the opening of the restaurant.

Restaurant officials signed the lease on the 7,500 square foot space on Town Center Drive in the third quarter of 2015, said Stacie House, marketing director for Westfield.

Since then, those waiting to delve into one of the restaurant’s “family-style platters,” or perhaps a whirl on the mechanical bull, have had to wait.

A Westfield official confirmed in the afternoon the goal for opening the restaurant was late June, possibly early July, depending on when the remaining interior renovations, as well as final hiring and trainings, are completed.

That doesn’t appear to be a likely date in light of the recent transfer of permits.

A call to Saddle Ranch seeking comment was not immediately returned Thursday.

  1. I heard through the grapevine that Saddle Ranch has put a dead stop on the completion due to non – disclosure of the sewage issues within the city that gives a disgusting aroma of sewage throughout Valencia and parts of The Old Road where the bulk of the restaurants in town are located that we Santa Claritan’s have been forced to accept (or simply not dine out).
It’s a shame that Newhall Land and Farm had a “Master Plan” for “Valencia” and “Awesome Town” but failed to institute the proper infrastructure to accommodate the growth.
Saddle Ranch would be a great addition to Town Center. Fingers crossed the problem will be resolved.
