The motorcyclist that was killed in a crash late Wednesday night on the southbound 14 freeway onramp at Sand Canyon, prompting a closure of the area Thursday morning, has been identified by coroner’s officials.

Angel R. Castro, a 30-year-old resident of Northridge, was killed while riding his 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle, according to Lt. Smith from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.
According to an official crash report, Castro’s motorcycle entered the freeway and collided with a raised concrete curb, causing him to be ejected.

McKinney, 53, of Fernley, Nevada, collided with the stationary motorcycle in the southbound #3 lane. It is unknown at this time if the big rig had also struck the fallen rider.
Castro sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A SigAlert was issued at 8:47 a.m. Thursday for cleanup of the crash, and lasted until around 11 a.m. while an on-scene investigation was conducted, according to a tweet by CHP.
It is currently unknown if alcohol or drugs was a factor in the crash.
