Santa Clarita Artists’ Association To Host Gallery At Barnes And Noble

The Santa Clarita Artists’ Association is inviting residents to Barnes and Noble for their monthly meeting, featuring a demonstration by artist Frank Lennartz, according to officials.

The Monday event is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.

The main theme of the demonstration, according to officials, is “the allure of water: breaking the myth that water ia difficult subject to paint.”

Lennartz is an award winning artist with pieces in several galleries.

“He received the prestigious Director’s Choice Award presented by the Carnegie Art Museum, where his painting ‘A Trek in the Foothills’ is part of their permanent collection,” a news release said.

His paintings have been exhibited throughout Southern California, including in many of the California Art Club’s Gold Medal Exhibitions, the On Location in Malibu exhibitions held at the Weisman Museum of art at Pepperdine University in Malibu and at The Old Mill in San Marino, the news release said.

Domes — Artist Reception at Old Town Newhall Library.

The City of Santa Clarita is inviting residents to meet Naomi Young, the artist featured in the latest exhibit at the Old Town Newhall Library, according to officials.

The meet-and-greet event is scheduled for Jan. 17, and is set to start at 6:30 p.m., according to officials.

“The exhibit features original painting and multimedia by Young, an artist born and raised in Jerusalem, Israel, which translates to ‘The City of Peace,” the news release said.

Forty years ago, she had to leave Jerusalem, the release said of Young. But her love for the city never diminished and can be seen in her artwork on display in the “Domes” exhibit.

ARTree — Figure Drawing at ARTree Community Arts Center

Artist frustrated with the lack of opportunities to draw in Santa Clarita are invited to come to ARTree Community Arts Center for a chance to explore their creative potential.

This event happens every first, second and third Thursdays of the month (with additional dates added for November and December) starting at 6 p.m.

Fear and Love — Artist Reception at  The MAIN

Art lovers are invited to meetthe latest artist, Sept, to be featured at The Main, on Jan. 18, according officials.

The event is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

“Guests will enjoy light appetizers, entertainment and a chance to meet the artist,” according to a news release.

In the exhibit, audiences are invited to explore the artist’s “Anti-Graphical” style that has no limitations, the news release said.

“Born in Japan, Sept graduated from Otis College of Art and Design with a BFA in Advertising,” according to officials.

Animaniacs Live at Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons

The hilarious animated series starring the wacky Warner Brothers (and the Warner Sister, Dot) is back in live form, officials said.

The show is scheduled for Jan. 20 at 2 p.m.

“Voice actors Rob Paulsen and Jess Harnell reunite with original songwriter Randy Rogel for a mix of old-fashioned wit, slapstick, pop culture and music in an unforgettable evening,” a news release said.

The Society — A Night of Improv at The MAIN

The Main invites residents to come enjoy improvised music and comedy, scenes on Jan. 20.

The improv show starts at 8 p.m., according to the official schedule.

“If you’ve seen ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway,’ you have an idea of what kind of hilarious, energetic comedy that team improv can be,” a news release said.

The show will be appropriate for all ages.

ARTree Speaker Series — Matt Hernandez at The MAIN

ARTree Community Arts Center invites residents to come see Los Angeles native Matt hernandez, who has creatively led several CBS campaigns, from Survivor to Star Trek Discovery, according to officials.

The event is scheduled for Jan. 25, at 7 p.m.

“As vice President of Design at CBS Network, Matt oversees the design and animation of CBS’s network branding, image campaigns and all the primetime and daytime promos,” a news release said.

Hernandez will be speaking about his journey in the entertainment business as well as tools to stay relevant in the design field, the news release said.
