Santa Clarita Celebrates Ribbon Cutting Of Old Town Newhall Parking Structure (VIDEO)

City of Santa Clarita officials were in attendance with community members, including Greg Laemmle, for the ribbon cutting of the new parking structure in Old Town Newhall on Thursday.

They were able to get a first look at the new parking structure, a monumental effort in Old Town Newhall, according to Mayor Laurene Weste.

Guests who attended the event were also able to join a speaking program on the rooftop, giving them a never-before-seen view of the Santa Clarita Valley.

“This rooftop is very unique; this was designed for events,” said Weste. “It gives us a 360-degree view of everything this area has to offer and the enormous beauty of our valley.”

As part of the Santa Clarita 2020 plan under the theme “Enhancing Economic Vitality,” the City of Santa Clarita constructed the new parking structure on the Redevelopment Block in Old Town Newhall.

The new block will also include the Newhall Crossings residential and retail space and a new Laemmle Theatre, both scheduled to open in 2019.

The structure is one of three projects on the Redevelopment Block, and is expected to add approximately 370 parking spots to the Old Town Newhall shopping area.
