The boutique is benefiting two causes — the Newhall American Legion Hall Post 507 and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

_MG_9711“For the rental of the hall, the fee for that is going to the American Legion, (we’re) trying to kinda retrofit and give it a little facelift here,” said Rosemary Salazar, event coordinator. “Along with myself and my-brother-in-law, in conjuction with him, we’re trying to get events going here, buy some new flat screen tv’s, bar stools and stuff like that. Then, I’m also doing the toy drive and that’s going to Children’s Hospital.”

Nineteen Santa Clarita Valley vendors — handcrafters, wholesale sellers and direct sales representatives — attended the event with dozens of members of the public.

Salazar’s goal is “to get this place going here. To help the veterans have a place to come and hang out.

“Our local Santa Clarita veterans are suffering and have no place to go. I also want to give back to the sick kids at the hospital.”

Salazar’s brother-in-law is a Marine veteran of the Gulf War.

“The veterans’ American Legion is a foundation in the community and it’s not really known very much by our community members that it’s here and it helps the veterans,” said Pam Leighton Fields, owner of Dazzle Me Designs.”I’ve done several events here over the years and it helps bring funding for them. Also, I have a business and (the boutique) helps my business.”

Rachel Forster, owner of Craft Menagerie, also participates in many of the holiday boutiques in the Santa Clarita Valley.

“I was excited to join in,” she said.
