Santa Clarita deputies arrested a man for allegedly driving with a blood alcohol content of nearly triple the legal limit in Canyon Country Saturday after the man failed multiple times to give them proper identification, officials said.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Saturday around 2:40 a.m., after the deputy observed a driver exhibiting dangerous behavior, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The driver was between two lanes of traffic, showing possible signs of impairment and exceeding the speed limit on Soledad Canyon Road, near Whites Canyon Road, where he conducted a traffic stop Miller said.

“The deputy asked the male adult for his driver’s license, and he handed him a credit card,” Miller said. “The deputy asked again for a driver’s license, and this time the man handed him a business card.”
The 28-year-old man was found to have a blood alcohol content of .23, which is nearly triple the legal limit of .08.
The driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
“If you’re going to drink, utilize one of the many ride-sharing options available, or have a designated driver,” said Sgt. Scott Shoemaker with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station traffic office. “Upon conviction, this arrest will end up costing this driver anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000.”
