Soaring gas prices could potentially halt Santa Clarita residents’ plans to travel this Memorial Day weekend, as consumers are expected to pay the highest fuel prices in four years.

Last year around the three-day weekend, the average price for a gallon of gas in California was just a little over $3.50. On Tuesday, motorist were paying closer to $4 dollars a gallon, according to AAA.

Santa Clarita drivers can buy the least expensive gas at Sam’s Club near Golden Valley Rd., according to the list on GasBuddy. But that gas station is only for members of the warehouse store.

United Oil, Schwartz Oil Company, 7-11 and Arco gas stations around Santa Clarita have the lowest non-membership prices as of Tuesday.
