Santa Clarita High School Football Scores – September 22, 2017

Santa Clarita High School Football with KHTS Sports, September 22, 2017. Valencia routs Bakersfield to move to 4-0 on the season and set up Division 2 top ten matchup with Calabasas on Thursday. West Ranch wins at Oak Park to move to 4-0 for the first time since 2011.

2 Valencia: 56

Bakersfield: 14

Mykael Wright had a huge first half with three catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns as the Vikings pulled away from the Drillers, scoring 49 unanswered points in the first half. Carson Sato had two fumble recoveries for touchdowns (three fumble recoveries total) in the fist half rout. Valencia is 4-0 heading into a big Division 2 top ten matchup with Calabasas next Thursday.

4 Golden Valley: 23

Fullerton: 27

The Grizzlies clawed their way back from down 20-6 to take a 23-20 lead in the fourth quarter, but the Indians scored the go-ahead touchdown with 31.5 seconds left to complete the upset (their first win of the season). Grizzlies finish their non-league schedule 3-2.

4 West Ranch: 48

Oak Park: 13

Weston Eget has five touchdown passes in relief of Colton Mitchell (shoulder) as the Wildcats are cruise to road win and complete their non-league schedule. West Ranch moves to 4-0 for the first time since 2011.

8 Saugus: 20

5 St. Francis: 49

Saugus couldn’t keep up with the undefeated Golden Knights, falling in the shootout. Centurions finish their non-league schedule 2-3 and head into the bye week.

Canyon: 36

Simi Valley: 17

Cowboys offense comes alive in the second half to keep the Simi Valley Pioneers winless and complete the non-league portion of their schedule with a 3-2 record.

Hart: 44

St. Bonaventure: 27

Indians score 23 unanswered points at one point to take the lead and haven’t looked back, earning the big come-from-behind victory to move to 2-2. They’ll take on Ventura in the KHTS Game of the Week, next Thursday at College of the Canyons Cougar Stadium.

Southlands Christian: 0

Ryan Demarois earned Player of the Game honors for his dominant performance for the Knights on both sides of the ball. The senior had three total touchdowns, seven tackles and a sack. He even added a 2-pt conversion for good measure. The Knights have won two in a row ahead of their showdown in the Faith Bowl with Santa Clarita Christian next week.

Kyle Jellings grew up in the Santa Clarita Valley and graduated from Canyon High School in 2004. Following his high school career he spent three years at College of the Canyons where he graduated with his Associate's Degree. Kyle then traveled to Utah where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Communication: Journalism emphasis from Utah Valley University. While in Utah, Kyle had the opportunity to do many different internships which included a Production Assistant at ESPN 700 and a Media Relations Assistant with the 2009 MLS Cup Champions Real Salt Lake. Kyle was married to his wife Paola in 2008 and they had their first child, Calvin, in August of 2010. When Kyle is not at KHTS he enjoys spending time with his family and being involved in sports in any way.
