Santa Clarita Marathon Expected To Make Strides In November

The 22nd annual Santa Clarita Marathon, an official qualifying race for the Boston Marathon, will be held Sunday, November 5.

On Saturday, November 4 there will be a Health and Fitness Expo at the Westfield Valencia Town Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to Santa Clarita officials, who have hosted the event for more than two decades.

Last year’s No. 1 runners were Victor Martinez for the Men’s Division who crossed the finish line in 2 hours, 46 minutes, and 24 seconds, and Angela Reynolds who crossed the finish line for the women’s division at 3 hours, 18 minutes, five seconds.

During the expo, guests can visit health and fitness vendors, while runners will have the opportunity to pick up their bibs and official race shirt.

Race day will start off at 7 a.m. with the marathon, Half Marathon and 5k run/walk, followed by the Mayor’s Walk at 7:05 a.m. and the Kid K Fun Run at 8 a.m.

All runs will begin on McBean Parkway, just south of Town Center Drive, and will finish on Theater Drive, south of Magic Mountain Parkway at the Westfield Valencia Town Center.

Magic Mountain Parkway will be closed at McBean Parkway to Auto Center Drive starting at 6:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Free parking will be available at the Westfield Town Center Mall.

Online registration for all races is ongoing until Sunday, October 29.

Runners who wish to register in person will be able to during the Health and Fitness expo on November 4. Runners will not be able to register the day of the race.

The City of Santa Clarita is also seeking volunteers for race day.

Volunteers will be responsible for directing runners along the route, working the water stations and watching for safety and medical issues.

The deadline to register as a volunteer is Sunday, October 22 on the volunteer website here.
