The Santa Clarita Public Library, in partnership with the Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library and Santa Clarita Valley Chinese School, will host a Chinese Lunar New Year Celebration from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Valencia Library, located at 23743 West Valencia Boulevard.

Several presentations and activities are planned to engage participants of all ages to celebrate the Year of the Sheep.
From 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., traditional Chinese Lion dancers and drummers will shake up the Valencia Library as colorful lions dance to a lively drum rhythm, followed by the Chinese Sign Song performed by the SCV Chinese School.
Then, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., storyteller Barbara Wong will present a Chinese tale, followed by a musical performance on the melodic Ehru and song from rising new teen sensation Maddison.
An encore Chinese Lion Dance will begin at 3:00 p.m. followed by a Chinese fan dance and student chorus from the SCV Chinese School.
The celebration will conclude with a final Chinese storytelling session led by Wong.
Residents can also attend a free 30-minute Chinese cultural presentation in the Valencia library community room at1:45 p.m., 2:45 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.
A Chinese food truck and free crafts will also be available.
