The library staff will be serving birthday cake on Friday, July 1 at all of its branches.  The community is invited to help celebrate the milestone.

The Santa Clarita Public Library first opened its doors on July 1, 2011.  Since then, the three library branches—Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library, Old Town Newhall Library, and Valencia Library—have been providing visitors with free resources and educational programming; constantly enhancing its services to address the growing needs of the community.

Free activities will be hosted at each library branch to celebrate.

“What we are commemorating is more than a building with books, it’s about the stories and services we’ve built in our community throughout the years,” said City Librarian Kelly Behle. “The library provides a safe and free place for residents of all backgrounds to participate in face-to-face and online cultural and community building. That’s a wonderful thing to have in our community and should be celebrated,” she added.

The Friends of the Santa Clarita Public Library will also be selling special Library 5 Year Anniversary book bags for $5.00 each. All proceeds benefit the Library. Purchase the bag in person at any Santa Clarita Public Library branch.

The mission of the Santa Clarita Public Library is to bring people, information, and ideas together to educate, inspire, and enrich the quality of life in our diverse community.
