What separates the fly fishing experience one can find in California from the experience found fishing at the Ruby Springs Lodge, explained Sampson, is the size of the lakes and the fish.  Ruby Springs Lodge Montana - Top Montana Fly Fishing Resorts

“A lot of your listeners would be up in the Sierras fishing small little creeks, and that’s a wonderful experience,” said Sampson, adding that rivers in Montana “are a little bit bigger, the fish are going to be quite a bit larger.”

Sampson also noted that being out on the boat is a “wonderful experience if you’re out for the entire day and having lunch out on the river, and enjoying the entire experience of the fishing.”

For those individuals who have never fly fished before, Sampson assures that no prior experience is necessary, and the lodge’s knowledgeable guides will teach guests everything they need to know.

“It’s the perfect place to come if you’ve never even seen a fly rod before,” explained Sampson. “Our packages include all of your rods, reels, waders — everything you need. You just show up, and we teach you how to do it.”

To prove that no experience is needed to enjoy an afternoon of fly fishing, Sampson offered examples of all the different types of people that visit the lodge every year and have a great time.Ruby Springs Lodge Montana - Top Montana Fly Fishing Resorts

“For example, right now we have a corporate banking group. They come every single year … and they’ll bring up to 20 customers,” said Sampson. “Some of them have fished all over the world — many of them have never cast a fly rod before.”

Although there are plenty of other activities available to guests of Ruby Springs Lodge, Sampson noted that fly fishing is their most popular attraction by far.

Of the overall fly fishing experience at Ruby Springs Lodge, Sampson described it as “a very high-end, semi-luxurious fishing experience in the middle of Montana.”
