The workshop, cosponsored by the Energy Network, will take place from 6-8 p.m. at the Old Town Newhall Library, according to officials from the event.

“Whether hosting the annual River Rally, committing to recycle 90% of all construction debris or replacing old light bulbs throughout the city with more energy efficient ones, the city of Santa Clarita goes above and beyond to use clean energy wherever possible,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “The city is proud to offer this free community workshop to show residents how they can help support the environment and save money by going green at home.”

The workshop will inform Santa Clarita residents on the  benefits of upgrading their homes to be more energy efficient, according to a news release from the city.

The meeting will include basic building science, such as the steps to take before adding solar to a home and the numbers and facts behind the way homes use and lose energy, according to the news release. Additionally, participants will learn about available rebates and financing to help make upgrading easier.

The event will also feature refreshments and the opportunity to win prizes.

About The Energy Network:

The Energy Network was authorized by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) in 2012 to harness the collective power of residents, businesses, and the public sector to achieve an unprecedented level of energy savings across Southern California.

As part of its core mission, The Energy Network provides resources and assistance to homeowners and property owners who are planning residential energy efficiency upgrades. We do this by providing information and money-saving resources in collaboration with local agencies, governments and stakeholders.

Services include rebate and incentive offerings for qualifying energy efficiency upgrades, attractive financing terms for eligible residential solar and energy saving improvements, tools to help identify contractors with energy efficiency training, and other resources that help homeowners take the next step toward saving energy.

Our offerings are administered by the County of Los Angeles and funded by California utility ratepayers under the auspices of the CPUC.  We support residents in the Southern California investor-owned utility service territories, encompassing the counties of Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, Ventura, Inyo, Imperial, and Mono, as well as portions of the counties of Orange, Kern, Tulare, Santa Barbara, and Kings.
