Jeff Barber, otherwise known as “Six,” will be debuting his display entitled “Ghost Band,” which features full-size instruments all painted white and arranged in the typical setup before a band performance.

“My goal with my art is to help people remember their own pasts,” said Barber. “I develop art that that provides a reason to reminisce about your past, and think about the good times, the funny times, the sad times, and the journey.”

“Ghost Band” is modeled after the “ghost bikes” that are placed on sides of the road in honor of people, typically children, who have been killed while biking.

As an interactive display, residents who attend and view the piece are encouraged to write notes to a musician that has passed away that they respected and place them into the open guitar case featured in the installation.

“I also enjoy creating art that is interactive,” Barber said. “I want those that view my work to be inspired and play along!”

The display will be held at The ARTree, in Studio two, 22508 6th Street, Newhall. Opening night for the installment is Friday, Dec. 9 from 5 to 10 p.m.

Daytime exhibit hours on Saturday, Dec. 10 will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. while a free wine and cheese reception will take place afterwards from 7 to 10 p.m.
