Santa Clarita Valley Deputies Release Weekly Crime Report

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives are continuing to investigate a series of robberies from this past week and are asking the public’s help in locating a suspect.

A couple was lost in Towsley Canyon Sunday evening, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.

The California Highway Patrol is now accepting online applications for the position of officer on a continuous basis.

Only 20,000 crime victims in Los Angeles County received services last year, while the number of violent crime victims alone exceeded 45,000, according to a report by District Attorney officials.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station leaders are meeting with the Santa Clarita Valley community for the event, “Coffee with the Captain.”

A two-vehicle traffic collision on State Route 126, between Fillmore and Piru, resulted in the death of a Fillmore man Tuesday afternoon.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies and other emergency officials responded to a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian collision in Canyon Country early Thursday morning.

A deputy from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station hiked several miles in the dark and heat Tuesday night to rescue a child stuck on a ledge along Haskell Canyon Trail in Saugus.

Canyon Country East

A robbery occurred near the 16400 block of Delone St., Canyon Country. One armed suspect entered the location and demanded money from the store clerk then fled on a bicycle. The suspect was later arrested.

A residential burglary occurred near the 16600 block of Shinedale Ave., Canyon Country.  The victim’s estranged wife forced entry into the victim’s residence. The suspect was later found to be driving a stolen vehicle from the Gardena area.

A residential burglary occurred near the 27900 block of Solamint Rd., Canyon Country.  The victim’s estranged husband forced entry into her residence and stole numerous items.

A commercial burglary occurred near the 27500 block of Sierra Hwy., Canyon County.  Suspect(s) unknown rammed the rollup doors of the business.

A petty theft occurred near the 18223 block of Soledad Cyn Rd., Canyon Country.  While on routine patrol of the area, a deputy observed the suspect exiting an apartment complex with a package. The suspect was detained and later arrested when it was discovered the suspect stole the package from the victim’s doorstep.

A petty theft occurred near the 19100 block of Golden Valley Rd., Canyon Country.  The suspect retuned a high end stroller receiving a full refund. Later it was determined that the paperwork provided to customer service was fraudulent.

A petty theft occurred at a business near the 16500 block of Soledad Cyn Rd., Canyon Country.  Two suspects selected numerous items and exited the location making no attempts to pay for the store merchandise.

A petty theft occurred near the 16000 block of Lost Cyn Rd., Canyon Country.  Suspect(s) unknown stole items from the location.

A petty theft occurred near the 17700 block of Danielson St., Canyon Country.   Suspect(s) unknown stole items from the vacant apartment.

A grand theft occurred near the 29200 Snapdragon Pl, Canyon Country.  Suspect(s) unknown stole the catalytic converters from the victim’s vehicle while parked in front of the location.

A grand theft occurred near Jason Dr., / Via Princessa, Canyon Country.  Suspect(s) unknown stole the victim’s vehicle which was later recovered by Ontario P.D.

Canyon Country West

A residential burglary occurred near the 20200 block of Stevie Court.  Person(s) unknown stole the victim’s bicycle from within his open garage.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A grand theft auto occurred near the 28100 block of Florence Lane.  Person(s) unknown stole the victim’s vehicle which was parked near the above location.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 28400 block of Falcon Crest Drive.  Person(s) unknown stole the victim’s work tool belt from a locked bin in the back of the victim’s truck.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A petty theft occurred near the 20800 block of Santa Clara Street.  One suspect was arrested for taking three bags of plastic bottles from a recycling plant near the above location.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A shoplifting occurred near the 26400 block of Carl Boyer Drive.  One suspect was arrested for taking store items making no attempt to pay for the concealed items.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Castaic/Val Verde

An aggravated assault occurred near the 31500 block of Castaic Road.  An employee was assaulted with a brick by the suspect while he was working as a parking lot security guard.  The suspect fled prior to deputies’ arrival.  This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A commercial burglary occurred near the 28000 block of Hasley Canyon Road.  Person(s) unknown shattered the front window to the location and made entry.  While inside, the suspect did not take any property. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

A petty theft occurred near the 36200 block of Paradise Ranch Road.  Person(s) unknown stole the victim’s purse that she left unattended outside of her residence. This incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Station detectives.

Newhall

Two robberies occurred on Lyons Avenue last week.  The robberies occurred on Monday, August 27, 2015 and Wednesday, August 29, 2015 in the 23300 and 24200 block of Lyons Avenue. The suspects described in both robberies were identified as being the same.  A 32-year-old male was arrested after the second robbery and detectives are working on identifying the outstanding suspects.

On Friday, July 31, 2015, at 8:52 a.m., a camper trailer was burned on the side of the road at Sierra Highway and Newhall Avenue.  The trailer had been stolen from a storage lot in Canyon Country.

Two incidents occurred within an hour of each other on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at approximately 11:00 p.m., between Valle Del Oro and Meadowridge Drive.  A male adult, and a female adult, both reported being confronted by a man in his late 20’s with a black handgun.  The female victim screamed and fled before the suspect obtained anything, and the male victim was not carrying anything the suspect wanted.

Between Sunday, July 26, 2015, 1:00 p.m., and Monday, July 27, 2015, 6:00 p.m., an apartment was burglarized in the 24400 block of Leonard Tree Lane.  Entry was made by prying open a window.  The resident is on vacation so it is unknown what was stolen.

On Tuesday, July 28, 2015, between 7:20 a.m. and 4:40 p.m., an apartment was burglarized in the 24400 block of Leonard Tree Lane.  Entry was made through a window.  A camera and a laptop were stolen.

Between Monday, July 27, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., an apartment was burglarized in the 21400 block of Plane Tree Lane.  Entry was made by shattering a sliding glass door.  A laptop, a watch, a video game, and a cellphone were stolen. The suspect did considerable damage to property inside the apartment.

Between Monday, July 20, 2015 at 9:30 a.m., and Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 12:00 p.m., an apartment in the 24400 block of Leonard Tree Lane was burglarized.  Entry was made through a window that was pried open.  The location was ransacked, but the victim could not determine if anything was stolen.

On Wednesday, July 29, 2015, between 12:15 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., a business in the 22900 block of Lyons Avenue was burglarized.  Entry was made through a shattered door.  A cash register containing cash and a laptop were stolen.

Between Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., and Monday, July 27, 2015, at 10:00 a.m., a vehicle burglary occurred in the 25800 block of Green Mill Avenue.  It was unknown how entry was made and nothing appeared to be missing.

On Thursday, July 30, 2015, at 4:50 a.m., a 2014 Toyota Camry, was stolen from the 22800 block of 15th Street.  The vehicle was recovered by Bell Gardens Police on Monday August 3, 2015.

There were three thefts from unlocked vehicles last week.  One theft occurred between Tuesday, July 28, 2015, and Wednesday, July 29, 2015, in the 24600 block of Ebeldon Avenue.  A computer tablet, a cell phone, and a pair of prescription sunglasses were stolen.  Another theft occurred on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, in the 24900 block of Chestnut Street.  A wallet with I.D. and a credit card were stolen.  The third theft was on the same day, in the 21100 block of Oakriver Lane, where a large set of keys was stolen.

There were three additional arrests in the Newhall area last week.  All three were adults and narcotics related.

Saugus

While riding a bus on Copper Hill Drive, the victim let a classmate use his cell phone.  The suspect got off at the next bus stop and failed to give the victim back his phone.

A grand theft auto was reported from the swap meet parking lot. The victim’s red 1996 Honda Civic was stolen from the location and has not been recovered.

A “Hot Prowl” burglary was reported from the 21130 block of Avenida De Sonrisa.  The victim went outside to her laundry room and saw the suspect near her washing machine. The suspect ran from the location.  This case is being investigated by Santa Clarita Station Detectives.

A burglary was reported from a business near Bouquet Canyon Road/Newhall Ranch Road.  The suspect stole a prepaid cell phone and fled the location. The suspect was later located by deputies and was taken into custody.

Stevenson Ranch

A mail theft occurred on the corner of Kavenaugh Ln / Singer Pl.  Person(s) unknown stole incoming and outgoing mail from 4 mailboxes in the area.

A petty theft occurred on the 25300 block of The Old Rd.  Person(s) unknown went into the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole her iPod, insurance card, and vehicle registration card.

A petty theft occurred on the 25500 block of The Old Rd.  Person(s) unknown stole approximately 20 gallons of fuel from the victim’s gas tank.

A burglary occurred on the 25500 block of The Old Rd. A male adult took an item and exited the store without paying for it.  The suspect admitted to entering the store with the intent to steal the item.  He was arrested for commercial burglary.

A burglary occurred on the 27700 block of The Old Rd.  Person(s) unknown pried open the rear tailgate window of his vehicle and stole tools from his vehicle.

A burglary occurred on the 25200 block of The Old Rd. Person(s) unknown pried open the rear tailgate window of his vehicle and stole the rear seats and a television from his vehicle.

A burglary occurred on the 25200 block of The Old Rd.  A male adult smashed the window of the location and stole $400.00 in U.S. currency from the cash register.

A burglary occurred on the 26700 block of Wyatt Ln.  Person(s) unknown broke into the victim’s garage and stole 2 high quality mountain bikes valued at $20,000.00.

A grand theft auto occurred on the 23500 block of The Old Rd.  Person(s) unknown stole the victim’s Kawasaki ‘Mule Trans’ off-road utility vehicle which was parked and unattended at the location.

Valencia

An assault with a deadly weapon occurred near the intersection of Bridgeport Lane and West Island Road.   A local transient became very aggressive towards a local woman as she was out for a walk in the neighborhood.  The suspect threw a beer bottle at the victim, hitting her in the leg.  The victim has never seen the suspect before.  The suspect fled the area prior to the deputies arrival.

A burglary occurred near the 28100 block of Newhall Ranch Road.  Suspect(s) unknown entered the business by shattering the front glass window and trying to gain access to a back office.  The suspect(s) tried to pry open the office door, but was unsuccessful.  The suspects fled the location prior to the deputies arrival.

A burglary occurred near the 25500 block of Lochmoor Road.   An unknown suspect broken into the victim’s home through a window.  The victim came home and saw a few bedroom windows missing screens and noticed the window frames were bent.  The only thing stolen from inside the location was a toilet paper holder.

A burglary occurred near the 23500 block of Via Farol.   An unknown suspect broke into the victim’s home through his back sliding glass door.  The victim came home and saw the door shattered and noticed his home had been ransacked.  The victim stated only his baseball card collection was stolen.

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 28500 block of Westinghouse Place.  An unknown suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and stole the 3rd row seat to his 2007 Chevrolet Suburban.  It appears the suspect gained entry into the victim’s vehicle through the rear hatch.

An attempted burglary occurred near the 26400 block of Bouquet Canyon Road.  An unknown suspect tried to force entry into the location.  The suspect was unsuccessful and did not enter the location.   Nothing was stolen from inside the store.

A grand theft occurred near the 24500 block of Town Center Drive.   An unknown suspect stole the victim’s bicycle while it was chained up at locked in his apartment complex.  The chain keeping the bike secure had been cut and was lying near the spot where the bicycle used to be.

A vehicle burglary occurred near the 23900 block of Via Aranda.   An unknown suspect entered the victims locked vehicle and stole his gym bag containing miscellaneous items.

A petty theft occurred near the 25600 block of Velan Drive.  An unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle at stole a few personal items.

A shoplifting theft occurred near the 24100 block of Magic Mountain Parkway. A female suspect was arrested from the location for failing to pay for items she had on her possession as she exited the store.

A theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred near the intersection of Quilla Road and Singing Hills Road.  An unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole several items from inside the car.  Stolen were sunglasses worth approximately 600 dollars.

A second theft from an unlocked vehicle occurred near the 25800 block of Quilla Road.  An unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole numerous personal items from inside the car.

A vehicle theft occurred near the 25500 block of Via Paladar.  The victim had his 2004 GMC Yukon stolen from the location while it was parked overnight.
